Mapping simple volumes to folders within a replicated DFS folder.

Hello,

I have been given the task of coming up with a new DFS structure and I had what I thought was a brilliant idea that would allow us to retain our existing file structure while also allowing us to  expand the available storage for each folder.

The structure is currently like this:
Lets called the replicated folder FolderRThe main folders are below this.
Main folders:
SectionA
SectionB
SectionC

structure is something like this:
FolderR\SectionA
FolderR\SectionB
FolderR\SectionC

My bright idea was to have a volume mounted to each section folder.

IN theory, this works great. Instead of having a 2TB lun for all the sections you have a very small container and each section can have anything up to 2TB allocated space.

However, further to testing this I find that it may not work as I would like.

I create the DFS replicated folder but the contents of the folders that are mapped to volumes aren't replicated across to the test server.
For example:
FolderR\SectionA\BloggsJoe
is on the primary server. but BloggsJoe is not replicated to the test server when SectionA is mapped to a volume.

Is there something I'm really overlooking here?

Is this a shorcoming of DFS replication?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
