When my OS X workstations are working out of the DFS file shares accessed via a namespace they get random greyed out folders they can not open. The date created of the folder (not the files) changes to 1984. The issue does not affect everyone as users who are getting served through the other file server see the folder with the correct date. It is impacting both servers and only the DFS/namespace share. Users who are accessing other file shares on the file server via the IP address are not encountering this issues. This issue is preventing us from being able to migrate all of our servers to DFS/namespace sharing.
Any help is much appreciated.
Below is my setup
Client Machine
Mac OS X 10.8.3 fully patched (Designers using Adobe CS6, cant migrate to Windows, would have a riot on my hands if I tried)
Server 1
HP Proliant DL370 G6
Windows 2008 r2 (fully patched)
HP Proliant ML370 G4
Windows 2008 R2 (fully patched)
I have seen some comments on the NIC being a potential trouble spot, so I have updated drivers and firmware on both. Can the switch environment cause problems. We recently had our network certified to deploy VOIP and were told there is a lot of "chatter" between the switches. They are all NetGear Prosafe switches.
Is this issue resolved in 2012?
thanks again for your help!
