I have a server (2008R2) that is a member of a replication group. 50% of the time, after this server is restarted, I log in and get a message that says "Why did the computer shut down unexpectedly? (pictured below). Every time this occurs it coincides with the DFSR service being shutdown improperly. I check the DFS Replication log and see the following event:
Event 2212:
The DFS Replication service has detected an unexpected shutdown on volume E:. This can occur if the service terminated abnormally (due to a power loss, for example) or an error occurred on the volume. The service has automatically initiated a recovery process. The service will rebuild the database if it determines it cannot reliably recover. No user action is required.
It appears that the DFSR service is not shutting down properly when the server is restarted. I frequently notice this after the weekend when updates were installed and the server rebooted automatically afterword. However, this has occurred when I manually restart the server as well. Like I mentioned before, this occurs about 50% of the time.
I've already modified the registry setting WaitToKillServiceTimeout and set it to 60000 as described in this article, however, the problem still occurs.

How can I get the DFSR service to shutdown properly?
Message received when logging in after a restart.
