Proper way to re-target or move ISCSI SAN volume from 2003 server to new 2012 server

Hello all...

I'm looking for the proper way\method to transfer\move\re-target 3 or so Nimble SAN ISCSI volumes with NTFS files shares from an old 2003 server to our new replacement 2012 server.  I was thinking this would be the way.

Log clients off

Unshare the folders

Remove the persistent targets and discovery portal from the old server ISCSI Initiatorr and restart the server

Make the disks inactive if they show up in Disk Management (not sure they will show up)..?? I want them gone from the old 2003 server

Then of course, add those target on my new 2012 R2 server - activate the disks etc

Am I thinking right? Anything I should be aware of? I just want to make sure the old server never reconnects to those disks again because the server has to stay up for other services for a while.

I was also thinking about the NTFS version ...and since these disks were formatted with 2003 server, will that cause any issues when a 2012 server is connected to them?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Dennis
