Unable to reach DFS namespace from Server 2003 Ent. w/SP2 Error Message: The specified network name no longer available.

Symptoms:

I receive the above-mentioned message when trying to navigate to \\Domain.local\MynameSpace or when trying to navigate to one of the two namespace servers the DFS namespace environment is made up for. When I try to navigate from Windows explorer to \\NameSpaceServ1\ I get the above message. If I try to navigate to \\NameSpaceServ2\ the network shares show up just fine. The problem only happens on Server 2003. Server 2008R2 or server 2012R2 work just fine. I can ping both file servers using their IP or hostname from the 2003 terminal server in question. I can also successfully perform NSLookup on both file servers. uninstalling AV client from \\NameSpaceServ1 didn't resolve the problem.

Following changes were made a couple of days ago:

Removed last 2003 DC and replaced it with 2012 R2

Raised domain and forest functional levels to 2008 R2

My Environment:

DFS Namespace:

\\Domain.local\MynameSpace = DFS 2000 mode

\\NameSpaceServ1 = Server 2012 R2

\\NameSpaceServ2 = Server 2012 R2

Terminal Servers:

\\2003TS1 = has the problem

\\2003TS2 = has the problem

\\2008TS1 = No problem

\\2012TS1 = No problem
