Allow users in different sites to access a DFS standalone without replication among sites.

We decided to use DFS to unify the namespace for some shares distributed among five servers in the same site. A single server was promoted to DFS root STANDALONE since it was not possible to create a domain based DFS due some restrictions. We are not using replication, we are using only DFS as is.

We have several sites and a single domain. The problem is that users from other sites cannot access to the DFS share \\rootstandaloneservername\share\folders.

Users can access if they are in the same site where the DFS root is located but not if they are in a different site. Users can also access the shares if they use the common UNC path \\servername\share (even if they are in different sites) but not if use the DFS name.

We don't have any firewall rule in our environment so far.

Do you know if it is possible to get rid of the site access restriction in our DFS standalone environment? It automatically chooses the site when promoting the root server to DFS.

Thanks for your comments in advance!
